About the book:

Although known for his energetic and often comic performances witnessed at festivals,
comedy nights, punk gigs and poetry shows across the UK, this collection shows a more intimate side of poet and performer T.S. IDIOT. Written between 2019 – 2024, these poems document a fictional 12 hour window as the writer walks through five years worth of grief for lost connections, absent friends and broken relationships – and ultimately, the scraps of love, resilience and belonging found along the way. 28 poems document deeply personal experiences of psychiatric care, substance addiction, queer sex and every day deprivation, spoke with the frankness of lived experience and a flare of the author’s trademark sense of tenderness and self-deprecating humour. Back To The Fuchsia is T.S. IDIOT’s debut collection, and was made possible with the support of Literature Works and The Literary Consultancy, as well as mentoring and editorial support from Forward Prize nominee Simon Barraclough and Royal Society of Literature Fellow Rosie Garland.

“Back to the Fuchsia takes us into our most private thoughts as TS's honest reflectio
on life - in all its beautiful, painful mundanity - become universal and feelings-led. This
is a collection which reveals the most to the readers who go into it as full-heartedly as
the unique poet who wrote it.” - Malaika Kegode (Associate Director, Theatre Royal)

"This is a collection filled with despair that has been seen, then caught, and then ma
impotent. Tom has made something wonderful. It is rather beautiful. It is tinged with
funny. It is often harsh. It is very, very pink." - Tom Denbigh (BBC Words First Winner and Bristol Pride Poet Laureate)

"Tom faces his demons and lays them bare in this intense collection of carefully
crafted and sparsely-worded verse laced with unexpected - and possibly inappropriate - puns and punchlines. Framed in a 12 hour day that actually encompasses a whole life as we jump from sex with a stranger to a found poem on a cat food pouch and barely notice the join." - TV Smith (founding member of The Adverts)
